What the AODA accessibility compliance report actually asks for

The compliance report is a set of questions about how your organization meets Ontario's accessibility requirements. Here is what it covers and how to prepare answers without scrambling.

The short version: the report asks whether you have accessibility policies, train your staff, handle feedback accessibly, and — at 50+ employees — maintain a multi-year plan and an accessible website. Prepare evidence for each before you open the form.

What the questions cover

  • Policies: do you have accessibility policies, and are they available to the public (required in writing at 50+ employees)?
  • Training: have staff been trained on accessibility requirements and accessible customer service? Can you show records?
  • Feedback: can customers or the public give feedback on accessibility, and is there an accessible way to do it?
  • Planning (50+): do you have a multi-year accessibility plan, and is it public?
  • Website (50+): does your public website meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA?

How to prepare

For each area, gather one piece of evidence: the policy document, the training sign-off sheet, a description of your feedback process, the plan, or a recent website check. If an answer is "not yet," that is useful information — it tells you what to fix before you certify the report.

Who should complete it

An authorized person certifies the report, confirming the information is accurate. Pick someone who was involved in gathering the evidence — not whoever happens to be free that day.

Common questions

How long does the report take to complete?

The form itself is short, but gathering policies, training records, and website findings usually takes weeks. Start early.

Can someone file on our behalf?

An authorized person in your organization must certify the report. A consultant can help you prepare, but the certification is yours.
